For a good explanation of 100VG/AnyLan take a look at http://www.100vg.com ...

to summarize the knee of the curve is further out and you can place devices on
a longer run and you can use a lower category of wiring (CAT3 ... although CAT5
is still a better choice) ... less hubs and routers required for the same
population and looks like the beginning of moving to ATM ... also the "page
function" is broadcast the rest of the conversation is point to point not
broadcast mode ... thus higher throughput vs 100baseT.
