Windows 2000 and Samba?

We are in the process of converting from Windows NT 4.0 to Windows
2000. I'm running MPE/iX 6.0 pp1 on my HPe3000 servers. I'm wondering
if Samba will work with Windows 2000? Are there any plans to use CIFS
(Common Internet File System) on the HPe3000?   I'm just a worried
System Manager. Thanks.
