I thought this was an interesting new technology.  It's a silicon chip from
Motorola that's inexpensive, requires no power and can be attached to many
non-conductive packages that can READ/STORE/LOCK/REWRITE information.  The
chip is a type of RFID - radio frequency Identification device.  The article
says the US Post Office is testing the technology.
