We seem to have segue'ed off the original topic somewhat.  ;-)

As long as we're on the subject of notable people from that
southern pointy-head factory (aka America's Tasmania), y'all
might like to know that the **very** famous Australian dramatic
soprano, Marjorie Lawrence, spent the last years of her life
at Hot Springs, Arkansas.  She was born at Dean's Marsh, near
Melbourne.  Her autobiography (Interrupted Melody) was published
in 1949 and made into a fondly-remembered film in the mid-1950s.
