We can append to DLT and DDS tapes on MPE, UNIX and NT.

I'm using a 3rd Party backup and was disappointed to
learn that their APPEND feature could not be used on a
DLT.  It only works on DDS media.

Given the possiblity of oodles of unused DLT for
one back up for a ~$70 tape.  I wondered if the
limitation is hardware related or software?
