If you need a simple cheap solution, we use a Pitney Bowes 9750 (with serial
port).
It is configured as a printer off of the 3000.
You would need to modify output to handle it's unique fax protocol.... but
for the price, it works.

Has some good features, cheap and reliable.

Cost was a little over $3,000.
