Having read Jeff Vance's comments, I agree...the main point that
convinced me is his comment about the APIs changing ... which
would require that outside programmers have greater access to
HP source than usual, or more (and expensive for HP) training/support
than usual.

Note to Jerry F.: printing isn't the only problem.  Remember the number
of people who stood up at SIG3000 and pointed out they're using HPIB
9 track tape drives (and others who said they couldn't get the
SCSI conversion kit for the single model that it had been available for).
