To use SQL format dates in IMAGE/SQL, define the fields to be X(16) and change your IMAGE/SQL map to type DATE (also works for TIME fields). As long as you have COBOL85 you can call the HP date routines to read/write these fields in the proper format - but they will not be accessible through QUERY (ISQL works fine).
We use this quite a bit, and have never had any problems.

Subject: Moving Dates - Image/SQL

We could use a bit of help here...

What should the Cobol storage format of a date field be in Image/SQL so that
we can TYPE the field as a date field in Image/SQL? What should be the Image
definition of the field in the schema as well?

TIA for your assistance.
