Just what difference is that? The length of time the data is "resting"?
I see no reason why a XML database isn't a reasonable construct, or even
why there couldn't be a XML DTD to Image schema generic generator and,
given a DTD, a generic data loader and unloader. There would be
limitations in the length of data and such, but binary data could be
referenced just like it is in XML (and in at least one of the Blob support
concepts in the whole enchilada).

Which is what a database is (as opposed to a undefined file format of raw
data).
