It's my fault the account doesn't have PM/SM on it when you install it; when
we originally packaged the FREEWARE tape, we tried to not add PM/SM accounts
to the system. Since the smbd and nmbd programs need PM, we put them in a
group named SAMBA.SYS. We later realized that the jobs running the daemons
need to be logged on with SM, and that they must be logged into the SAMBA
account. For the next release, I hope HP will everything from SAMBA.SYS back
to PUB.SAMBA, and give the account PM/SM.

It's not a security risk if you properly password-protect the SAMBA account.

Filenames (and directory names) in MPE groups are limited to 16 characters.
Move your share to a directory instead of a group and the problem will go
away.
