a couple of thoughts....if the open/write/close is to be completed transacted
on the pc, then the file could be simply transferred (ftp) to your mpe system
at the end(?) of your program.  otoh, if the transaction needs to happen on the
3000, i'd suggest installing samba on the 3000 and mapping a drive on the pc to
the 3000.  there are other possibilities and i'm sure others will make those
suggestions.  both ftp and samba are free :-)  depending on the size of this
file, it would probably be worthwhile to do some performance testing....
