Yes, it SHOULD work the same - 'should' be the operative word.  But the
reality is often it doesn't.  I've worked on just about every model of
LaserJets back to the original, and the exact same PCL sent to different
printer models can often space just a little bit differently, both
vertically and horizontally.  I'm not sure why, but I just accept it and
modify my output.  It can be a bother, though, when you have to feed
different models.  At my last job, I had a program writing complex graphics
and text to three printers...a LJ4si and two LJ3si's.  The last line, when
sent to the LJ4si, would trip the form feed and go to a new page, but print
okay on the 3si.  Modifying the program to move that last line up a few dots
made the 4si okay, but now the 3si printed too high (on preprinted
letterhead)!!  I chose to live with it that way!
