I haven't been reading this thread until now, but the web server
which Lars' pages are on does not cache any pages on its own.
I would also (as John pointed out) suggest that your ISP is
performing its own caching to help their customers with frequently
requested pages. I've seen where some cable companies setup
huge caching proxy servers for their cable modem customers (as
does AOL) to help speed up frequently requested pages. AOL
is especially bad about that, and in general is a real pain in
the a#s to web developers since they have so many [...]46_31Jan200023:13:[log in to unmask]

Greetings,

I'm attempting to compile perl on a MPE 5.5 system. All looks good
until when running make the following occurs:

`sh  cflags libperl.a perlio.o`  perlio.c
          CCCMD =  gcc -DPERL_CORE -c -DMPE -D_POSIX_SOURCE
-D_SOCKET_SOURCE -D_
POSIX_JOB_CONTROL -DIS_SOCKET_CLIB_ITSELF -I/usr/local/include
-I/BIND/PUB/inclu
de -I/usr/include -O
rm -f libperl.a
/bin/ar rcu libperl.a perl.o malloc.o gv.o toke.o perly.o op.o regcomp.o
dump.o
util.o mg.o byterun.o hv.o av.o run.o pp_hot.o sv.o pp.o scope.o
pp_ctl.o pp_sys
.o doop.o doio.o regexec.o taint.o deb.o universal.o globals.o perlio.o

28 OBJECT FILES HAVE BEEN ADDED.

gcc  -L/usr/local/lib -L/BIND/PUB/lib -L/SYSLOG/PUB -o miniperl
miniperlmain.o l
ibperl.a -lbind -lsyslog -lcurses -lsvipc -lsocket -lm -lc

./miniperl -w -Ilib -MExporter -e 0 || /usr/local/bin/make minitest
UNRESOLVED EXTERNALS: __builtin_va_start  (LDRERR 512)

**** EXEC FUNCTION FAILED; subsys =517; info = 48

So, after the creating the object files the compile of miniperl is
successful but upon execution fails with the unresolved external
__builtin_va_start.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to correct this problem?

Thanks,

Dave Limber
