What is this?  What does it mean?  How do I fix it?

I have a user that is attempting to log onto a 918LX MPE/iX 6.0 over
a LAN using Win92 and NS/VT.  They can get past the login sequence
and then their session hangs.  On the console the message:

NS / 3000 NetIPC ERROR IN VT; Job: X; PIN: Y; Info: 1; - Error:42

appears.

Any and all help greatfully accepted.
