Hi Steve,

there is no problem writing to DDS1 (60m) DATs with a HPC1537 but ...
it must be one prepared for media recognition! In the very first days of DDS
the tapes didn't have this specific feature and only can be read with the
modern tape devices. You can recognize whether a DAT is prepared for 'media
recognition' by the written label 'Media Recognition System' and/or four
bars in the right top corner of the cartridge.
