We're also using FTP for our file transfers. We also tried Reflection and
Minisoft, but decided on FTP because of speed and cross platform
availability. We're running Serv-U FTP server on our NT server. We tried
NT's FTP server, but were having a lot of problems with the connection
dropping. We're having no problems with Serv-U.
What we do usually is this...
--Run our process that creates a file on the HP3000
--FTP that file to a vendors folder on the NT FTP server
--using FTP call a batch file that will ZIP that file
--email our vendors (from the HP3000) that the file is ready to pick up
This is working very well for us.
