Problems aborting a job

We are currently experiencing a problem trying to abort a job.  After
looking at the STDLIST the job is trying to purge a KSAM file using the
PURGE command.  Trying to purge the file using KSAMUTIL or out of MPEX does
not work and only freezes the session attempting the purge.  The job is
taking quite a bit of CPU as well.  This is has stumped myself and a few
others here.  Any help would be appreciated.
