First note that our 959 is running 5.5 PP6, so we should not
be "at risk" for this particular "exposure". I checked with the
HP RC just to be sure, because when I run PP6 LINKEDIT it
tells me:

HP Link Editor/iX (HP30315A.06.03)

but when I run AUTOLED.INSTALL.SYS on our box I get:

HP Link Editor/iX (HP30315A.05.26)

Why do I find this a bit strange ??.... well, because:

CREATE date on our LINKEDIT.PUB.SYS is 21 JAN 99.
CREATE date on our AUTOLED.INSTALL.SYS is 23 DEC 99.

23 Dec 99 is same CREATE date as our PATCHIX and the
other usual files that come on all patch tapes (this was a real
tape; not download); that I picked up when I installed
TurboIMAGE Vers. C.07.25 at the end of Dec 99.

...... which leads me to wonder: Why in the last part of Dec
1999 was HP still sending out Vers. A.05.26 of LINKEDIT as
AUTOLED on patch tapes; when the real LINKEDIT version
A.06.03 was created 11 months earlier ?? Wouldn't it make
sense to have PATCHIX check before it makes a run to install
a patch; to see if the version of LINKEDIT.PUB.SYS on the
machine in question is later than the AUTOLED that comes
with the patch; and if LINKEDIT.PUB.SYS is a later version
just use that and / or over-write AUTOLED ??.. In any case,
why is AUTOLED on patch tapes *that* far behind ??..
