Colleagues,

Individually, each of us make contributions daily through our jobs to
the University's mission of education and enlightenment of the students
and communities we serve. Collectively, we can do more by joining as
participants in the Faculty and Staff Campaign at UTC. There are many
personal stories of success related to UTC, and one of them is offered
by Dr. Debbie Ingram, head of the Physical Therapy Department and UC
Foundation Professor, in her own words:  

 

"My grandmother had an 8th grade education and believed education would
be the key to a brighter future for her children.  She was so proud that
her eight children completed high school and six earned college degrees.
This year, my father is celebrating the 50th anniversary of his
graduation from the University of Chattanooga.  I feel very fortunate to
have grown up in a family that supported higher education.  My husband
was the 9th of ten children and the first in his family to earn a
college degree.  We give each year to a scholarship that supports
students with financial needs so they will have an opportunity for a
brighter future."

 

If you have any doubts about our Faculty and Staff Campaign, please know
that we all benefit by contributing. Participation is important.
Donations of all sizes are welcome, and they can make a difference. The
following individuals serve as this year's co-chairs: John Graef, head
of the Math Department, Jim Bowman of the Help Desk and Chair of the
Exempt Staff Council, and Valerah Hodges of the Business Services Office
and Chair of the Employee Relations Committee. These staff members will
be glad to answer any questions you might have, or you may contact
Director of Development Nate Pinkard at ext. 4232, Office of
Development.
