This is a repeat as a reminder of downtime over Sat. Oct. 18.
(The original notice was sent Sept. 25.)
Downtime is being planned for all campus computer systems and
network services all day Sat. Oct. 18 (Fall Break). This downtime
is necessary to rearrange equipment, install new cabling, and
upgrade the computer room network to the new 4th generation campus
standard. These changes are required to maintain reliable service
and to keep up with growth in use of technology services.
This outage will include: All OneNet services, SRV1, Email services,
www.utc.edu, secure.utc.edu, utconline.utc.edu, (Blackboard),
Virtua (Library), Phoenix (HP 3000 - ASIS and WebASIS), Banner,
Network DHCP, DNS, Juno, etc.
Since the network itself will be down at times, this will interrupt
service to all campus PCs, student PCs, labs, and departmental
servers.
We plan to bring back up the basic network and Internet access
services as soon as we can early Sat. afternoon. Other services
will take longer, but all will be working again by Sunday.
We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. We have tried
to pick a time that would minimize the impact to the campus as a
whole.
Thanks,
Richard
