Please note that drafts of all but one of the NCAA Self-Study subcommittee
reports have been posted on the UT Chattanooga website. The one remaining
report from the Academic Integrity subcommittee will be posted in the near
future. All are encouraged to examine these reports and to forward any and
all concerns to the Steering Committee. The web address for the report is
as follows:

http://www.utc.edu/NCAASelfStudy/index.htm

The following introduction is posted on this web page:

UT Chattanooga is in the final stages of conducting a self-study of its
Athletics Program, a process which is required for the certification of
Division I member institutions by the National Collegiate Athletics
Association (NCAA). UT Chattanooga is strongly committed to the NCAA
Certification process and wants to invite the widest possible
participation. This preliminary draft of the self-study is being posted on
the web as one way to encourage that participation.

After an "Introduction," the self-study includes the reports of four
subcommittees:

                                    Governance and Commitment to Rules
Compliance

                                    Academic Integrity

                                    Fiscal Integrity

                                    Equity, Welfare, and Sportsmanship

The deliberations of each subcommittee were organized around basic
operating principles that guide NCAA institutions. Each subcommittee used
self-study items to assess the UT Chattanooga Athletics Program relative to
those operating principles. Responses to those items make up the majority
of the subcommittee reports, but evaluations and plans for improvement are
presented as well. Most or all of the appendices mentioned in these reports
will not be posted on the web because of technical limitations. These
materials nevertheless will be available at the circulation desk in the
library on the UT Chattanooga campus.

All are invited to examine the self-study and to forward
comments, concerns, or recommendations to the Self-Study Steering Committee
Chair, Dr. Paul J. Watson. His email address is [log in to unmask], and
his telephone number is 1-423-425-4291. His mailing address is
Psychology/Department #2803, 350 Holt Hall-615 McCallie Avenue, University
of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Chattanooga, TN 37403. Comments before March
21 would be greatly appreciated so that the Steering Committee can meet a
deadline for forwarding the self-study to the NCAA.
