For those who love the saxophone, (and maybe for those who wish they could, but are looking for a reason), Monday November 6 will be a date to remember.
Clinton J. Schmitt, adjunct instructor of saxophone at UTC, will present a concert of music for saxophone, with collaboration by faculty piano artist Sin-Hsing Tsai. The music features composers of the Americas--both North and South--including John Harbison, Astor Piazzolla, David Jones, and UTC's Jonathan McNair.
Clint Schmitt is well known in the region for his wonderful playing in both jazz and classical music, having been a soloist with the Chattanooga Symphony, and was an important part of the Duke Ellington sacred concert last March. He is also a tireless organizer of saxophone ensembles in the community as well as here at UTC.
Both of these musicians are well worth listening to, and you are all invited, Monday, Nov. 6, at 7:30, in Roland Hayes Concert Hall, Fine Arts Building. Admission is free. All are welcome.
