My only additional suggestion to Greg's take is to add something during that huge stretch in Spring Semester.

Subject: Re: [UTCSTAFF] Fall holidays

I would very much oppose the elimination of Fall Break. Contrary to Dr.
Thompson's experience, when I came to UTC in 1990, it was actually the only
school I'd heard of that didn't have a midterm break in the fall semester.
And because it does come at midterm, rather than "just when classes are
getting going," it seems a real respite to me. Having said that, though, it
does seem that Fall Break might be a day shorter than it is. A four-day
weekend ought to be enough to recharge the batteries, and the extra day
might go to a Thanksgiving travel day.
