Folks,

This morning I read Chuck Cantrell's e-mail about finding legislator's
addresses on the state legislator website. You might need to be aware that
if you intend a blanket e-mail to the entire 102 General Assembly, some of
them have screens that filter all e-mails except those from their
constituents. If we really want to be effective we should write the
legislators from our districts and possibly the chairs of the house and
senate education and finance committees. Check the websites. All this
information is available.

If the person who sent Chuck the message was, just by chance, inciting his
or her students to get involved, please be aware that there are still a lot
of folks out there who may have the legislator's addresses and even the
committee assignments but don't know the proper format to use addressing
letters to them or, even worse, don't know who their elected officials are.

Yesterday, I sent you information about the TACTE website (just search for
TACTE on your browser)to give you access to a lot of facts you might not
have. Under the Tennessee Education Funding Crisis section please check
out the suggestions for letters and e-mails as well as the procedures for
finding legislators.

Thanks to David Carrithers who is undoubtedly more computer literate than I
for his assistance in helping you send attachements to whomever you think
might want to get involved in this.
