This would be a good week-end to make a Fall Container since we are at the
starting of the fall season. There are so many shrubs and flowers out now
that are beautiful for fall and they can be put together for a great
arrangement for your fall holidays. For those that have been asking:

Get a large container and potting soil. The larger the container the
prettier your arrangement will be. Make sure your container has a drainage
hole. Since pot plants dry out easily you need to water your plants at
least twice a week/maybe 3 times. Fill your container part-way with the
soil. In the back of your container put your larger tall plant. You can
even use tall grasses which would be great for this time of year. (Lowes
has some great looking plants) Then put something in the container such as
chrysanthemums which you can buy full bodied which would go great in front
of the tall grass. Then you can plant one of those ornamental cabbages to
the side. They come blue, gray looking and purple. Some of those cabbages
are trimmed in cream color and they are so pretty. Also put something which
hangs down lower than your cabbage such as a trailing verbena. There is no
way you can mess up a pot.....

The nurseries have so many plants for fall now that your imagination can run
wild.

If you have seeds of red mustard or Swiss chard, stick a few of them in the
middle of the pot - they are so pretty in fall. Also those little
ornamental pepper plants should be out - they are great for fall
arrangements. Another good plant is lambs ear which is silver.

Gather some of your pine combs and pine needles and put around the pot on
the ground - a couple of small pumpkins and/or gourds to lay around the
arrangement and you are set for fall.

Don't let those pumpkins stay out too long - use them for pies or muffins.
When your gourds turn from green to a dark spotted color, clean them up and
paint them. You should be able to get the gourds and pumpkins now at a
market. Hope you have a great fall week-end!
