As First Vice-President of the Faculty Council, I am sending you this
message on behalf of the Executive Committee of the Faculty Council.
Because John Trimpey has been named Acting Provost, he has resigned his
position as President of the Faculty Council. In accordance with the UTC
Faculty Handbook, we seek to elect a new President of the Faculty Council
at our next faculty meeting on September 11, 2001.
Nominations should be sent to Susan Davidson, Secretary of the Faculty
Council by noon, on Friday, September 7, 2001. According to our Handbook,
nominees should hold a full-time appointment and "either engage at least
half time in teaching and/or academic research; or hold rank as a
professional member of the library staff, with the exception of the Dean of
Libraries, who serves as ex officio." Please be sure your nominee(s) would
be willing to serve if elected. Thank you.
