From: Jan Cochrane, Director, UTC Opera Workshop
Steven Bird, Music Director, UTC Symphony

Monday and Tuesday, November 22-23, at 8 PM in Roland Hayes Concert Hall
the Cadek Department of Music Opera Workshop and Symphony will present
the Evening of Opera featuring L'ILE DE TULIPATAN by Jacques Offenbach,
libretto by Henri Chivot and Alfred Duru, as well as scenes from CARMEN
by Bizet, LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR by Donizetti, DIE ZAUBERGLÖTE by Mozart
and THE OLD MAID AND THE THIEF by Menotti. Tickets are available at $5
each by calling the UTC Box Office at 755-4269.

This is a fun, educational and entertaining way to experience other
cultures within a historical time frame, as most operas were written
about political and historical situations. Offenbach, in particular,
was noted for his satires of society and politics.
