Vice Chancellor Richard Brown's concerns about the safety aspects of
removing pay phones led him to have discussions on keeping pay phones in
all the housing areas with BellSouth area management. After additional
review and thanks to the discussions with Vice Chancellor Brown, BellSouth
will leave one pay phone working in each of our five housing areas.
BellSouth's decision to keep these phones, at no additional cost to the
University, is a fine example of how they are willing to partner with the
University to provide the best possible service to our campus.
