I ,actually, happen to like Sailor Moon.  And some Japanese anime is really
exquisite. Of course that's not what they show on the Toonami line up.

As this discussion progressed, I pointed out to someone that much cartoon
humor and subject matter is not geared at at kids at all. I guess that's why
I can sit down and watch an episode of "Sponge Bob Square Pants" where
everything is so surreal you might as well be in a Dali painting or Andre
Breton work.  But then I remembered being 5 or 6 and watching Bugs Bunny
WWII propaganda cartoons with cameos from Hitler and Mussolini, and I just
liked the silly rabbit.  Funny that cartoons started out geared for adults
and ended up as mindless fodder for children.  Maybe we should forgo the
idea that cartoons are for kids.  Go figure.
