Dear UTC Community:

I wanted to take this time to say goodbye to all of you who I have worked
with in my four and a half years at UTC--I have enjoyed my time at UTC and
will miss all of you who I have come to know as friends. My decision to
leave UTC has been a difficult one, but I am pursuing a new career
direction with a public relations firm in Chattanooga that I am very
excited about. My last day at UTC will be this Friday, Feb. 20th.

Those of you who know me know that I won't be gone for good--I will still
be around teaching as an adjunct through April in the English Department,
attending conferences and writing events on campus, and attending some of
the wonderful performances at UTC's Fine Arts Center. And, of course, I'll
stop in to say "hello" when I can!

As many of you know, as well, I received my Master of Arts degree in
English at UTC, and I would like to thank the entire English Department
faculty for their wonderful guidance through the years and continued
dedication to students on this campus. English instructors spend long
hours critiquing papers and helping students develop as writers, and I had
the opportunity to experience this dedication first-hand as a UTC graduate
student. Keep up the great work!

And, last, I want to thank all of you who I have worked with on grant
development through the years. Writing a grant is very difficult and
time-intensive work, and many of you have given up time with family and
friends to develop and carry out grant projects. I'd like to recognize all
of you for these great efforts that bring recognition to UTC and help UTC
carry out its metropolitan mission. Your grant projects have been crucial
for supporting research on this campus and for supporting vital community
projects that improve the lives of teachers, children, and families. Keep
up the great work, as well!

I wish all of you the best and hope to keep in touch. Take care!

Sincerely,

Jennifer Hoff
