Subject: student volunteer opportunity

Please pass this along to any interested students, particularly those who
receive support from Space Grant. (Obviously this is more for those of you
in or close to Nashville, but anyone else is welcome.)

Thanks,
Ellie

Agricultural and Biotechnology Challenge for HS and MS students:

I am the State Program Consultant for Technology/Engineering Education with
the Tennessee Department of Education.

Tennessee TSA is a student Association for students in grades 5-12 and have
an interest in Technology. We have 27 events at the Middle School Level and
30 events at the High School Level. Tennessee TSA has over 23,000 students
involved and we have been the largest association in the nation the past two
years.

We have been working with Nashville Tech and others to get judges for our
Annual Conference being held on March 9-12, 2003 at Opryland Hotel.

For information on our association and abstracts on events, they can be
found on our website at: www.tntsa.org

WE have many engineering and design events that our students will be
competing in.

Our Flight Endurance HS, Judged on Sunday, 3/9, from 6:00pm-9:00pm and the
flights are on Tues, 3/11, from 8:00 am - Noon. This is an event where
students build a glider and these need to be judged and speced out. They
than fly them to see which glider remains ariborne the longest.

Our flight challenge MS, , 3/9, from 5:30pm-9:00pm event is built on site
and requires 3 judges to assist our chairperson and facilitate the event.
The students will fly their gliders during the same time frame as the HS
gliders on Tues., 3/11.

I was wondering if you and the students at your facility would be interested
in helping judge at our competition.

We will have about 800 students from all over Tennessee in grades 6-12.

Other events we are looking for judges in are:
static events: Students turn in their designs and we have judges judge them
according to our national guidelines.
These events need judges to help check them in and they are judged on
Sunday, 3/9, 6:00pm - 9:00pm

We need 3 judges for each of the events below. We are looking for
engineering students or staff who would like to help in this great
endeavour.
Abstracts for these events are available on our website at: www.tntsa.org

Please ask any of your student or staff if they would like to help judge
some of the brightest students enrolled in technology eduation in Tennessee.
I hope to hear from you soon.
