I think they moved it two or three years ago to miss homecoming ... I guess they
were worried that if they had a football game over the fall break weekend, that
it would hurt attendance ;)

That is another plausible explanation :)   Who knows.

I'd like to see the Hamilton County schools sync their spring and fall breaks to
ours, but it appears that they are surreptitiously moving toward a "year round
school" calendar (note how early they started this year; before you know it,
they will be starting in July and finishing in June).  So I don't hold out much
hope for that ... and our kids are grown now so it is too late to help me in any
case.

I know they carved off a day this year so we could get the day before
Thanksgiving off from class.  Actually, that was probably a good thing.  Of
course, they could have added a day somewhere else to enable that, instead of
shortening the fall break....
