After a rocky start to the conference season, the Lady Mocs Softball team
is back to their winning ways going 5-6 against our last two conference
opponents. Off the field, the Lady Mocs have been just as successful. You
should know what thoughtful and community-minded student-athletes we have
here at UTC. Please take the time to read the e-mail message below. This
is just a sample.

..........Submitted via GoMocs.com Feedback Corner from James R. "Randy"

"I would like to send this message of thanks and gratitude to the Lady Mocs
softball team and Coaching Staff, especially Coach Dana Reed.

2 weeks ago my cousin's daughter, Britney Viar (who is 16 years old and
plays softball at Midway High School in Roane County) was involved in a
serious automobile accident and was flown to Erlanger by Lifeforce. She had
a badly broken leg and several facial and head cuts. After successful
surgery and a couple of days in ICU, she was moved to a regular room. I
thought it would be good for her if I could contact someone on the Lady
Mocs team to maybe have a couple of players stop by to visit to encourage
her and help cheer her up. I contacted Ms Dana Reed and explained to her
what had happened and asked if maybe a couple of players could stop by to
see her. She assured me they would try to do something for her. Much to
everyone's surprise, the next afternoon, right after practice, Britney was
surprised by a visit in her hospital room by the entire Lady Mocs softball
team and presented a T-shirt signed by the team and staff and a Lady Mocs
visor. They really boosted her spirits with the visit, words of
encouragement, and prayers.

Britney is at home now doing well in her recovery. She is a great kid who
has a great family and will work hard in her recovery efforts. I know she
will be back out there playing again. I want to personally thank the team
and staff for taking the time to show such kindness. I believe the Good
Lord will bless those who will help others in such a way.No matter how many
games are won or lost on the scoreboard, this team and staff demonstrated
to me they are winners in the game of life. I wish the team good luck the
rest of the season, and whatever happens, I know they are winners."

See you at the next games.
