Wilfred McClay : "THE LONELY CROWD, Then and Now"
Prof. McClay holds the Ph.D. in American history from Johns Hopkins
University and is on the faculty at Tulane University. During this
academic year he is serving as a visiting professor at Georgetown. His
book THE MASTERLESS: SELF AND SOCIETY IN MODERN AMERICA (1994) won the
Merle Curti Award from the Organization of American Historians. He is
currently at work on a biography of the American sociologist David Riesman.
