UTC Colleagues,

I am planning on attending National Humanities Advocacy Day in Washington D.C. in March to  lobby for continued support and funding of humanities education and projects & research as part of a delegation from the National Communication Association. 

National Humanities Advocacy Day is an annual event in which members from a consortium of professional associations lobby members of Congress on behalf of federal agencies that support the humanities. In its seventh year, Humanities Advocacy Day is helping to develop a network of humanities advocates from across the country and a variety of institutions including museums, libraries, colleges and universities, humanities institutes, state humanities councils, historical societies, and other organizations. Last year's National Humanities Day efforts deserve some of the credit for the $5 million allocated for humanities projects over and above what was recommended in the president's budget. 

I want to represent UTC well when I meet with our representatives, so I am seeking input from the campus about what our priorities (as a campus) are in humanities education and projects & research.  Please contact me if you have any suggestions about humanities related items. 

Also, if you have received a NEH grant for a project at UTC, I would really like to speak with you, if possible!
