The first film in the Spanish Film Series will be shown next Monday
night (9/22) at 8:00pm in Brock Hall, 201.  La boca del lobo (The Lion's
Den) is a 1998 film by Francisco Lombardi.  It graphically depicts the
violent struggle between the Peruvian military and the Shining Path
guerrillas, focusing on the peasants that are caught in the middle of
abuse from both sides.  The story is based on true incidents that took
place in the mountain town of Chuspi between 1980 and 1983.  The film
won an award at the San Sebastian Film Festival in 1998.  Color.  In
Spanish with English subtitles.  111 minutes, NR.
