Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the students, alumni and the extended community we serve I
want to thank you for all your efforts during the past academic
year. 2002-2003 has been a period of great progress for UTC despite the
fiscal challenges faced. Your dedication, commitment and hard work have
been essential to that progress and valued by all.

Again this year as an expression of appreciation for that hard work by
faculty and staff each of the University's divisions will sponsor a
campus-wide picnic. Funding for the picnics will be provided by gift funds
designated for this purpose. The campus Employee Relations Committee
supports this initiative and will assist with the activities.

In conjunction with the new initiatives on campus and in the hope that it
will provide an opportunity for you to get a "sneak preview" of some of the
positive changes the coming year holds, the picnic locations will vary.

The first event will be held this Friday, May 30, in the breezeway area of
our new Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science Building beginning at
11:30 a.m., and is sponsored by the Chancellor's Office and the Athletics
Department. Details about the picnic will follow.

The dates, locations and sponsors of the other four picnics are:

June 6 University Advancement Oak Street Crossroads

June 20 Student Advancement UTC Place

August 1 Administration & Finance to be determined

August 15 Academic Affairs Founders/Race/Hooper -- Patten Chapel Lawn

Please mark your calendars and make plans to attend each of these events
which provide opportunities for us to gather to show appreciation for our
shared work in fulfilling the University's mission and purposes, while also
looking forward to the coming academic year.
