The cause of the internet problem has been found - there was a dispute
between a backhoe and a fiber optic cable in Atlanta, and the backhoe
won the match.

This just in from the UT networking office:

> The University is experiencing a major internet outage.  We have lost
> service from 2 of our 3 Internet services.  This is due to a major
> southeast fiber cut in Atlanta.  This is also affecting long distance
> phone services.  One service provider was estimating service recovery
> at 2:00 but newer information indicates it may take longer.
