I too spend the day at the warehouse stocking shelves and helping people
pick out times for their "new" home or apartment. I agree with Sandy that
Chattanooga Housing Authority is a doing a first class job -it very well
organized and I was impressed with all the teenagers I saw helping out.
One man I was helping with was from New Orleans - he said he was give 10
mintues take what he need and evacuate his home. He lost everything.

Please continue with your donations of household items as families are still
be placed in homes or apartments and need to replace all that they have
lost.

Subject: [UTCSTAFF] Katrina furniture donations needed

I just wanted to let everyone know that the Chattanooga Housing Authority is
doing a wonderful job of furnishing apartments and homes for Katrina
evacuees. I was honored to have spent the day with several families Saturday
helping them pick out household furniture and other items and getting
everything packed up and moved to their "new" homes. There are still several
items they need for these families. We ran out of all bed frames except twin
sized frames. There are plenty of boxsprings and mattresses of all sizes
though. There are a limited number of kitchen tables and chairs and living
room furniture. We ran out of dressers and there were no televisions at all
on Saturday. Also needed are cleaning supplies such as mops, brooms, lysol,
etc. Please consider donating. Contact the Chattanooga Housing Authority.
