I do live in Chattanooga. In fact, I live in Brainerd and I drive these
very streets every single day, twice a day. What folks are failing to
consider is that McCallie and MLK are NOT interstate speedways! It is a
neighboorhood, a residential area, with businesses and families and schools
that would all benefit from two way traffic. Do you know the average speed
of cars going down either one of these streets is 50mph? How safe is that
when we're talking about people crossing the street? Its like running
across the highway! Yes, changing them back to 2-way will slow down
traffic. But if you ask me, I think they could stand a bit of slowing down.

The speed demons who are looking for a fast way in and out of work will find
a faster route. That's what the interstates are for. The convenience of
being able to travel both directions on both of these streets will outweigh
the 5 or so minutes of travel time that I gain on my way back and forth.
