Since John Trimpey has brought up the concerns and solutions, I thought
I'd let folks know that this issue has been discussed among archivists
(especially the electronic records archivists).  In particular, ya'll
(did I type that?) may want to note that setting VCRs back to 1972 is
asking a machine to contemplate operating at a point in time before its
birth.  Apparently, a VCR does not have a problem doing this.  But then,
historians don't mind contemplating time periods before their births
either...
