Excuse me, Shannon. I don't believe this institution should be in the
business of "instilling these virtues" into the students. Aren't they a bit
too old to be taught manners???

The question being asked seems to be does this ritual belong to the
students or the institution?  I would be curious to see feedback from
students about their feelings concerning graduation behaviors.  If this
is a standard of behavior you find unacceptable as an institution, I
would also question what  we are doing (or not doing) to instill these
virtues during a student's time at UTC?
