>>You'll recall as well the law school shooting in VA last
year. That shooter was stopped by other students who had a
gun. Unfortunately, due to campus policies (and they're apparent abiding
by said policy), they had to go to their cars, get their weapons, return to
the building and engage the shooter. How many people were shot during that
time frame? Who knows, but it could've been drastically reduced had these
courageous students not had to go to their cars.<<

I shudder to think of our schools filled with students carrying guns! Guns
in the hands of immature high school or even college students is a very
frightening concept!! God help us if we come to the day that we see
students regularly carrying guns to school as protection either for
themselves OR others! We are living in an increasingly violent society and
to say that it's a "good thing" for a student to have ready access to a
weapon of any kind is absurd. I agree that the gun is an inanimate object
and can't commit a crime in and of itself, but that doesn't mean that it's
okay for students to carry them to classes OR to school. Let's just imagine
that students are still in need of guidance and not old enough or mature
enough to handle a violent situation where there is massive confusion and
fear and panic everywhere. Not that a mature adult can handle that kind of
a situation! A gun in the hands of anyone except a professionally trained
adult having authority to carry that gun is just more disaster looking to
happen. ˇUn otro dos centavos de mi opinión!

People appropriately trained to carry and use weapons, save
themselves and others each and every day in this country. IMHO, the
problem was the student, not the gun.
