1974 Chevy C-10 (full size) 6 cyl, auto. This is that old red and white and
rust truck with the ladder rack you have seen on campus. Plenty of power to
pull that load in the woods.. Plenty of rust. Plenty of miles. Standard
Steering, Disc Front Brakes, never air-conditioned, broken radio. This
truck has just logged 500,000 miles. That is Five Hundred Thousand. Half
MILLION. Not a misprint. Oh by the way, this truck is very comfortable if
you have a bad back.

We stopped at nothing to keep it running over the years, but the rust has
run away with the body. This truck is ready for hauling firewood out of the
woods, hauling your limit of long rifle, bow and black-powder back to camp.

Never worry about being "keyed" in a parking lot again.

Here is the story. This truck began life as a "follow me" vehicle for the
air force on the salt flats of Edwards Air Force Base. Late in it's
military life a genus thought this truck needed an extra load of salt and
sent it (along with five others like it) for a NATO tour in CANADA!

A "lot" of six of these were rescued at auction (about 1980) from this
Canadian military abuse by a local private school. As the rust ate them
alive, this truck even inherited the cab from one of the sister trucks
because the engine and drive train on this truck was better. Twenty eight
years later, the rust has even had the best of this second cab.

I acquired the truck years ago and kept it on the road doing camp work,
YMCA duties and the everything daily life you would expect from rock
climbers, kayakers, camping and backwoods living. This truck looks like it
lived. It has made more trips to the Northwest Territories, Wisconsin,
Ohio, Kentucky, North Carolina, etc., than we can count. We recommend you
let it spend life hauling game, firewood and supplies for local remodeling
projects at less than interstate speeds.

In the last several years we have changed all bearings in the motor,
replaced the transmission, u-joints, etc, sealed the rear-end and brakes,
brakes, brakes. We have replaced alternators, rebuilt carburetors, exhaust
system and the other maintenance you expect for a properly maintained but
extra high mileage vehicle.

This motor has solid-state ignition, starts right up. Never uses oil. Did I
mention the truck has rust? Needs tires. Plan on driving it straight to the
tire shop, everything but the air is showing.

By the way, I do not do my own mechanic work. I will be glad to let you
call the local mechanic that has maintained this truck though this
generation of backwoods behavior.

Just picked up a "new" truck; I can only drive one at a time. So this must
go hunting, or to Home Depot with you.

The only warranty offered on this truck is that paperwork will be handled
like "gentlemen." When you give me $900.00, I give you the truck and a good
clear title. I will spend the cash; you are on your own.
