Physics seminar.

When: Wednesday, September 14, 1-1:50 p.m.

Where: Grote 318, right entrance door

Who: Dr. Ray Hefferlin, Southern Adventist University

Topic: Molecules: periodicity, additivity, prediction

Abstract: We demonstrate that small main-group molecules are
periodic, and construct periodic systems for them. Then we explore
data for heat of atomization and find it to increase quite linearly
as oxygen atoms are attached to a a variety of different core atoms
or groups. This linearity makes possible to quantify periodicity for
this property of these species, and makes it possible to predict the
heat of atomization for additional species.

Open to everyone, please encourage students to come. Thank you.
