This Saturday, October 7, I will be participating in the Memory Walk to
raise money for the fight against Alzheimer's disease. I hope you will
consider supporting my efforts on behalf of the Alzheimer's Association.
Checks should be made payable to the Alzheimer's Association. All donations
for the Memory Walk are tax deductible as charitable contributions. Please
let me know if you would like for me to come by your office to pick up your
contribution. I will be happy to deliver your donations to the Alzheimer's
Association personally. Send me an email or call me at: 4546.
If you would like to join me Saturday, registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and
the walk begins at 10:00 a.m. at Coolidge Park. The Memory Walk counts as
points for the Chancellor's Challenge as well.
As a university community, I am certain you are as interested in fighting a
disease that destroys the mind. Here is a little information regarding
Alzheimer's disease:
* Alzheimer's disease currently affects almost 4.5 million Americans.
* Alzheimer's disease is a disorder that causes the gradual loss of
brain cells and is the leading cause of dementia.
* Nearly 50% of Americans over age 85 have Alzheimer's disease.
* Statistics show by 2050, the number of Americans with Alzheimer's
could range from 11.3 million to 16 million.
* Annual direct and indirect annual cost of caring for individuals
with Alzheimer's disease are nearly $100 billion nationally.
Thanks for your help,
Kelley
