Several UTC faculty and staff are on the advisory committees for educational
programs sponsored by the Moccasin Bend Girl Scout Council. Expanding Your
Horizons, a program for mathematics and science, will be offered in April
2005. Information is included below. If you would like to present a session,

Expanding Your Horizons, a national series of conferences for young women is
coming to Chattanooga.  The conference, established by the Math and Science
network goals are to promote the importance and relevance of math, science
and technology in the lives of young women; increase the level and
expectations of mathematics and science education; and reach traditionally
underrepresented groups by: (1) introducing girls to a wide range of
positive interactive math, science and technology experiences; (2) utilizing
the engaged learning process while conducting collaborative, hands-on, and
girl-centered activities; (3) profiling positive female role models (4)
exploring diverse future career choices.  This event, set for April 2005
will be hosted by the Girl Scouts of Moccasin Bend Council and seeks guest
speakers to present their personal stories of successes as women in math,
science, or technology fields along with a demonstration, workshop, or
interactive hands on activity for the girls.  Please contact Stephanie
