Friday's Sonic Games Cancelled

Friday's softball games in the Sonic Challenge at Frost Stadium have been
cancelled, and a decision will be made Saturday morning at about 8 a.m.
concerning Saturday's action, tournament officials said. Chattanooga is
hosting the annual event, which also features Virginia Tech, Eastern
Kentucky, Ball State and Indiana State.

If play resumes Saturday, the games are scheduled to be played according
that day's original plan. When play picks up, Chattanooga (5-8) will be
looking to extend its two-game winning streak. On Saturday and Sunday, the
Lady Mocs are scheduled to meet Ball State at 2:30 p.m. and Indiana State
at 4:45 both days.

The Lady Mocs lost their first six games, but have played better of late
(five wins in seven tries) with wins over #19 Georgia Tech, Southern Miss,
Birmingham Southern and back-to-back five-inning shutouts over Tusculum.

Leslie Barron currently tops the squad in hitting at .400, and freshman
Jennifer Reed is also swinging a hot bat at .308. Reed has a pair of homers
and leads the squad with eight RBIs. Jada Pescatore has driven in six runs
and drilled a pair of homers.

Most of the Sonic Challenge games were scheduled to be played at Frost
Stadium with two at nearby Hargraves Field, but more games could be played
at Hargraves to complete as much of the tournament as possible.
