The library has recently installed a new version of Virtua, its online catalog software.

This new version offers several new search features, including:

1. the ability to easily restrict a basic search to only periodical titles

2. the ability to easily restrict a keyword or command search to words appearing in a publisher's name, the title of a series, or the record's summary notes 

3. the ability to easily restrict a keyword or command search to a single year of publication

4. the ability to sort intermediate search results by author, title (by default), and call number in either ascending or descending order

The new version also offers a new drop down menu of previous pages which searchers have viewed and gives searchers the ability to quickly return to any of these pages.

The new version has a few redesigned pages, most notably the page listing the library's periodical holdings for each title in various formats.
