UTC's College of Education has been awarded a $73,503 grant to fund a
teacher preparation program for high school students, a program that will
give 100 high school seniors the opportunity to be involved in work-based
learning in their high schools.
Ms. Margha Davis will direct this project for UTC. She will work with
Hamilton County Schools to facilitate the program.
Selected high school students will explore the preparation and work of
professional educators through peer teaching, tutoring middle and
elementary students, and participating in Future Teachers of America. The
program will encourage students, including at-risk minorities and
underrepresented populations, to enroll in post-secondary education and
select teaching as their career.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Mary Tanner and the College of
Education on this grant and in wishing Margha Davis good luck in
administering it.
